Harmonic measurement

Non-linear power consumption and decentralized power generation creates more and more disturbances into the grid. With this short blog we would like to introduce how easy it is to setup a measurement – but of course, less easy will be the problem solving. But there must be starting point somewhere.

Used device is HDPQ (Dranetz) / Mavowatt 270 (Gossen Metrawatt)

Step 1

Setup the frequency band you wish to record with trigger values in a 5Hz steps eg. You want to record 36,5Hz range so the step below is 30 and above is 35Hz

    1. You can choose up to 5 frequencies you want to record and or measure on trigger points
    2. Choose journal Limits under the topic trigger limits

Step 2

Setup the frequency band in 5Hz Steps you want to record

    1. Please note that you have to setup voltage not the frequency directly
    2. In our sample if we want to detect the spectrum form or around 30Hz we have to choose a very low voltage value such as 1V and 2V for the different limit types in the MAVOWATT 270
    3. Please note that you even can choose a trigger point on the current frequencies if necessary => in this case you have to add the current value

Step 3

  1. Analyse the value in the DranView 7 software and create the graph

Step 4

  1. Analyse the graph
  2. Deduce necessary action
